Newborn Sessions with a Cherry on Top

Newborns are magic. They are so tiny, the littlest they’ll ever be. And sadly this phase is so quick. A few blinks and your new baby changes. You’ll want to capture this very precious time for sure! I know for some people it can feel like a lot of effort to deal with a newborn session so close to giving birth. But the good news is, I’m going to make this very easy on you. Remember, I am a birth photographer and a mother of 2. I know exactly what it’s like to be postpartum. I can come to you for a newborn family lifestyle session this way you are in the comfort of your own home. We don’t need a lot of space. We just need a bit of light and all that sweet love that a newborn brings to the family. In-home family newborn sessions are more personalized and unique because the backdrop is your living space.

In-Home Newborn Sessions

However!

You may want those studio shots of your newborn dressed in cute hats and placed in tiny buckets and beds and posed in adorable ways. You can have it all! You can always add a Posed Newborn Mini Session, and I will bring the studio, the blankets, swaddles, props and accessories to your home. And then we’ll add about 30 minutes to the session to create these adorable pictures that will melt your heart. You also get an additional 10 images in your gallery.

Remember! Everyday your new baby gets a little bigger and a little stronger. These sessions are definitely time sensitive, so do not miss your one and only opportunity to capture your baby at their tiniest! And if you want two cherries on top, you can also add a sweet personalized film!

Twelve Day Old Cadence

After documenting the day this family welcomed Cadence, twelve days later I went to their home for their in-home lifestyle newborn session. I was greeted by their 2 adorable toddlers and their super sweet dog! The grandparents were also there! I looooove when the grandparents get in on the session! We spent some time hanging out in the living room before we headed upstairs for some more planned shots. There’s one specific picture you’ll see taken from above as they lay on the bed, and that is a scene they have replicated with every baby! Such a fun idea right?! After that Big Bro and Big Sis got to head off for snacks and Paw Patrol this way we could focus on just Cadence and her parents. And then their session included the newborn poses add-on, which means I bring my mini travelling studio-like set up to your home to get some classic pictures that are posed and more studio-like. This includes hats and blankets (handmade by me) and wraps and a couple little props. And of course being baby #3, Cadence was so easy going and quite chill, letting us wrap her up and put cute hats on her! Oh and her tiny toes!! Sigh! Seriously, just scroll down a see! So so adorable.

A Brother for Christmas!

Is there really a better gift than a new baby during the holidays? This big sister will tell you NO WAY! Her love and curiosity for her brother was very apparent! When I arrived at their home for a Meet the Baby session big sister was helping get her brother ready before they all cuddled and jumped on the bed. After hanging out there for a while, we headed downstairs to the festive living room. Of course we were letting their toddler lead the session so she decided it was time to play dress up! YES! Their costumes were absolutely perfect! Baby brother was pretty hungry after all that fun, so we declared it snack time! He got quite sleepy after snack which allowed us to get some sweet shots of him under the Christmas tree before laying him on the bed for some suuuuper adorable close ups of all his cuteness!!
I seriously love it when families welcome me in to their home so I can capture these personal and very sweet authentic moments of them. Winter is a very popular time for in home sessions because during the colder months it’s hard for the children to be outside for too long. But being in your own home will add a whole new level of nostalgia to your images. And honestly, it’s not uncommon that we end the session outside playing in the back yard or at a local park, or building snow people and making snow angels, or having snowball fights.
