A Spooky Mario Party

These 4 have such an incredible bond that together they can take on the mad sun, wild turtles, and any other obstacle that gets in their way. But on Halloween they went up a level and braved the spooky world to collect candy instead of coins.

And oh boy! As they walked that spooky path they accumulated so much candy. But as it got darker and spookier they needed some extra help. Without Yoshi they were not confident they could get to the creepy castle at the end. Luckily they met up with some sort of wild rooster who joined forces with Mario, Luigi, Princess, and Toad. However, a few blocks before entering the creepy castle, Mario got a game over. Womp Womp! The others weren’t sure they would make it to the end without him. Especially when they lost the rooster at the entrance of the creepy castle. But they did it! So with bags full of candy, these cute gamers headed home to spend the next few days indulging in all the sugar!

Now that I have pretty much completed 12 years of documenting my children’s childhood trick or treating adventures, I think it’s time to offer this special holiday adventure to other families. So sign up to receive the quarterly newsletter if you want to participate in the halloween adventure draw next year! Who will be the lucky family who wins and gets their Halloween adventures documented?! It will include a fun halloween themed creative portrait too!

Astrid and Stormfly Take Flight at Dusk

How to Train Your Dragon is probably our longest running obsession that started almost 8 years ago! Creating their costumes this year was not the easiest! But a whole lot of glue gun action with some minor sewing along with spray painting, and voila! We took a few photos of this fierce duo before the sun set, but of course Toothless saw and he couldn’t resist sneaking up on us for a sweet photobomb!

At Dusk they took flight! Astrid and Stormfly wouldn’t let the rain get in their way of candy collecting! The rain came down very hard at times but they just embraced it and continued on. We started our adventure with lots of friends but the longer Astrid and Stormfly trekked the more friends they would lose to the downpour. These two have weathered many storms together. so as tempting as the hot apple cider and hot chocolate was, they motored on. They were determind. By the time all the candy was collected the rain finally stopped. So they enjoyed their flight home with mouths full of candy.
Once again, our incredible neighbourhood made this holiday super rad!! So many of you wonderful neighbours also embraced the elements and turned what could have been a gloomy Halloween in to yet another epic year! Thank you! Now scroll down to see their adventure!

Hilda and Twig's Halloween Adventure

My kiddos are pretty obsessed with Hilda and the Troll books. Hilda lives in a land with cool creatures and she has some pretty awesome friends including this adorable deer fox named Twig. Recently Netflix has brought the books to life with a TV series, which is a fave in our house. But I recommend the books! When we were deciding on costumes this year, I wasn’t surprised at all when they said they wanted to go as Hilda and Twig for Halloween. So we collected a bunch of stuff, pulled out the sewing kit, and voila!

Hilda and Twig were ready to grab their bags and head in to the night to collect as much candy as they could before the midnight troll woke up! Scroll down to see how fun their Halloween adventure was! We even ran in to blue Lego and Dorothy up the street and joined forces. And I know I mention this every single year during my annual halloween post, but the people in my neighbourhood are just the best! They know how to make Halloween super fun! In fact, they know how to make a super rad community! We love you all!
