Welcome Home Jasper

{birth story}

It was a blustery cold late-autumn night. But inside was cozy and warm. A baby was being born. It was my last birth of 2017. A beautiful home birth. Everything went perfect. It was their first baby. Being present for first babies is pretty miraculous. I love watching the parents because everything is a surprise. Every moment of this journey is a first for them. It's such a beautiful thing to witness and document. You can see for your self by scrolling down through these pictures to the bottom of this post where you can watch the whole birth story! I have documented 43 births (as of last night) and it will never get old, or dull, or boring. And I am so extremely humbled and grateful for all of you lovely families that have welcomed me in to the most memorable, surreal, amazing days of your lives. Know that your experiences have a huge impact in my life too. So thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am very much looking forward to 2018 when I already know I will be seeing some of you again.

Maternity Sessions Before The Big Day

When people contact me about documenting their birth, I always suggest we get together! It's good to meet, get to know each other a little bit. We chat about your expectations and desires and chat about my process and the experiences I have had. Then we take a walk around the neighbourhood and snap a few photos.  I think it's nice to get a glimpse of yourself through my eyes and to do a little run through before fully committing to having the biggest day of your life documented. I want you to be sure of your decision, and I want you to feel at ease about me being there, and trust that I am capturing your day perfectly. More or less, I want to make sure we're a good fit. I am 100% there to document your day, but it's not uncommon for me to grab water, or hold a leg, or help put on slippers, or just cheer in the background because with birth, you gotta roll with it! Birth is beautiful and kinda unpredictable. If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram you'll know that I am pretty passionate about birth. I believe that all women should be given more control and more information about their own birth and more support in their options. I wholeheartedly support all women in their birthing choices, so whatever happens, whatever you decide, I will support you.

These 5 sessions below are people I met with pretty recently. Three of these couples have had their baby already and 2 have not. Jesleen is due over the holiday season, and Sandra and Pawel will be parents any day now!! So send all those birthy vibes their way!
