Cadence's Birthing Day

This couple reached out to me about documenting the birth of their 2nd baby, but sadly my birth schedule was fully booked. So when they reached out to me for their third baby I was very happy to have an opening for their estimated due date. I met with this family (which you can see here) and she told me they were planning the birth at the birth centre, which always makes me a little extra excited!! Have you seen that place?!? It’s beautiful and so cozy and inviting!! So in the early morning hours on March 29th, I got “the call”. When I arrive I walked in to a room so calm with a very focused mama. As she worked through her contractions she would listen and watch adorable videos on her phone of her children giggling and playing. It was really sweet that they were virtually there to help support their mama on their new siblings birthing day. Well, it wasn’t long before baby made her debut!! So fast, so wide eyed and alert! When her brother and sister arrived to shower her with cuddles, my heart just exploded. Watching siblings meet for the first time will never ever get old. Good Morning Annabella

{birth story}

When I met Kelly she was 17 weeks pregnant with her third baby dragon. I love that she loves dragons so much because I also love dragons so much! We walked around Trinity Bellwoods Park during the cherry blossoms and snapped some baby bump pictures, (which you can see HERE) and she told me a bit about herself. I started following Kelly on Instagram and watched as she documented and shared her life with 2 toddlers and a growing baby. It got me more excited to document this beautiful day. When I got the call that early morning, I raced to the birth centre. Third babies are predictably unpredictable. When I arrived labour was in full swing. This mama was circled with love and support. It was a beautiful sight. After learning that meconium was present talk of transferring to the hospital started. But Kelly knew better because mama’s always know!! She knew that there was no time to transfer. Contractions were coming hard and fast. And she was right! In no time at all sweet little Annabella made her debut and everything was absolutely perfect!

Meet Elize, Born At Home

I spent an afternoon doing a Meet the Baby session with this rad family just after Elize was born right here in their home. You may remember a few years back I documented the day Attis was born, so it was really wonderful to see Attis so welcoming to his little sister. He played music for her and read to her. He was also so incredibly loving, mimicking his dad caring for his mama, making sure she was fed and cuddled. Ya know, a lot of people might think having a photographer in your space after having a baby could be too much, but actually, it’s way less stressful and more casual than you think. You just go about your day doing all the things you would normally do and I can be a fly on the wall capturing all the sweet moments and messy moments and funny moments. Basically just capturing your perfectly imperfect real life. And you can even add the Newborn Poses add-on if you also wanted some studio-like newborn pictures, like they did!
