Alex + Missy

Alex is one of my best friends. He’s a friend for life kinda friend. In fact, I’ve been friends with this guy for more than two thirds of my life. Ever since we were 12 years old. We have accumulated so many memories that we could write a series of books. Now I am not sure what book we’re on or what chapter we’re at, but my goodness am I ever so excited to start this next one!! Him and his lady are having a BABY!!!
When Alex and Missy started dating I remember saying to my husband the night after meeting Missy that they would totally one day get married. They seemed so "meant-to-be”, immediately. Fast forward a couple years and these two had one of the most beautiful weddings along the French River. A coupla moves and a coupla cats later, they are now adding a sweet little squishy baby!!!!!! And this special little baby is the first grandbaby on both sides. Eeeeek!
So, naturally, we met up at the park during sunset for a maternity session and took advantage of the beautiful sunbeams as the sun set below the horizon. It was a week away from the first day of autumn. The foliage and wild flowers were so full and luscious. Their colours were still so vibrant. Now add their vibrant personalities, and we created magic. Seriously, such a fun session! So many incredible shots. Like, there’s no way you won’t smile when you look through these. They are soooooo cute and so meant to be.

Autumn Already.

I think I mean it more like, autumn already? Because wow, these past six months were weeeiiirrrd! I know I haven’t been blogging or been on social media since Spring because sadly like most buisnesses, I had to temporarily close since I document a lot of births and go to a lot of homes to document newborms and families home life. In fact I was supposed to attend and document 5 births between mid March and mid April. I had a calendar fully booked in to Autumn. It was especially painful not being able to be there for my birth clients. And like a lot of parents, it was very trying managing life with kids and work in isolation. I actually ended up unintentionally creating a personal project which I’d love for you to come see here: https://www.heatherbays.com/projects#/isolation/
But anyway, here were are, half a year later, with way more information about Covid-19, which means, I can do outdoor sessions again! I have already done a few sessions over the past couple weeks and I can’t wait for this years fall sessions!! The colours are already changing out there!! I only have a couple weekend dates still available in October, but of course during the week there’s more availability. It’s also worth noting that during the week the parks are less busy too.

Twelve Day Old Cadence

After documenting the day this family welcomed Cadence, twelve days later I went to their home for their in-home lifestyle newborn session. I was greeted by their 2 adorable toddlers and their super sweet dog! The grandparents were also there! I looooove when the grandparents get in on the session! We spent some time hanging out in the living room before we headed upstairs for some more planned shots. There’s one specific picture you’ll see taken from above as they lay on the bed, and that is a scene they have replicated with every baby! Such a fun idea right?! After that Big Bro and Big Sis got to head off for snacks and Paw Patrol this way we could focus on just Cadence and her parents. And then their session included the newborn poses add-on, which means I bring my mini travelling studio-like set up to your home to get some classic pictures that are posed and more studio-like. This includes hats and blankets (handmade by me) and wraps and a couple little props. And of course being baby #3, Cadence was so easy going and quite chill, letting us wrap her up and put cute hats on her! Oh and her tiny toes!! Sigh! Seriously, just scroll down a see! So so adorable.
