Oh my. These two were so much fun to work with! Their beautiful personality and their love for each other was something I immediately noticed when we met for the first time to discuss documenting their birthing day. Of course, like all my birth meetings, after we talked about birth photography and got to know each other a bit, we snapped a few photos. This mama was about 6 months pregnant at the time these first three images were taken. After our meeting and mini session they decided to go ahead and book an Oh Baby bundled collection which included a full maternity session and the documentation of their birthing day. At 8 months pregnant we went out on this hot August day and headed to Underpass Park. It was such a fitting location for video game themed photos. So colourful and fun. We also snapped some photos around their home. That is the part of the maternity session where most mamas like to embrace their new beautiful body. It’s so temporary and it’s so special. Not long after our maternity session I got “the call!” It was baby time!! I arrived at the hospital and these 2 were riding the contraction roller coaster. You could sense the relief and feeling of safety when the midwives arrived. It was like at that moment she could surrender and it was not long after that it was time to push her little baby out in to the world! It was an incredibly beautiful and emotional birth. There was a loooot of love and support between this couple. They make quite a team! And I imagine in no time at all they will be having the sweetest Mario Parties! Thank you so much you three for letting me share your story! And thank you all who stopped by to read it!

Baby Bumps + Birth Meetings

When people contact me about documenting their baby’s birthing day the first thing we do is set up a meeting to chat and get to know each other a little more. After we chat we do a little complimentary mini maternity session. This gives you a feel for what it’s like to be in front of the camera and allows you to see yourself in my images before you commit to having me document this momentous time in your life. There are no retakes when in comes to birth so you need to be confident in who you are trusting to document such a life changing experience.
I always recommend you contact me early, like as soon as you realize you want your birth documented, because with the nature of this type of photography I can only take 2 births per month and I need to keep them spaced by 2 weeks to be fully confident that births won’t overlap. This means my birth schedule is often booked up. However, if you contact me last minute when you are nearly full term, there’s a chance I can fit you in because sometimes the mama who is booked for the same time you are due already had her baby which opens up the spot. For example, the first family featured below was my early March mama, and baby was born yesterday! So, if you are expecting your baby between now and mid-March and are looking for a birth photographer, you are in luck because a spot has opened up! Contact me ASAP!

Oh Babies!

I am on call for so many births this spring and summer, I am really excited! I have started the domino effect of maternity sessions, and you know that I looooove maternity sessions. My last two birth meetings and maternity sessions were with couples who are expecting twins!! So special! scroll down to look at my favourite photos from both those sessions!

DENISE & BENTLEY
When most people think of an early spring photo session they think dreary and cold because it's the end of winter. Quite honestly, there is some real beauty in the bare trees and yellow grass and shrubs. Just check out this session from just the other day! I adore that barely frozen pond mixed with the autumn colours and the warm glow of the late afternoon sun hiding behind the clouds. And of course this mama's radiant dress is the perfect pop of colour. Hanging out with this couple for the afternoon was just wonderful. They certainly rocked their session. I am very much looking forward to being there to document the birth day of their babies!

TWO PLUS TWO
End of winter is also a perfect time for an in home session. Especially with little kids. It gave us time and space to chat about birth and documenting their birth day while the kids played. They later joined us for some photos. It couldn't have been more perfect that they came down the stairs with a heart balloon!! I can't wait for the day they meet their new babies!! Those pictures will be so so precious!
