Audrey's First Haircut

First haircuts are pretty sentimental, especially when you let that hair grow out! A great way to make it easier and to give the cut more meaning, is to donate it! We donated Audrey's locks to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, just like we did when we cut Adelaide's hair for the first time. But a quick google search and you will see that they aren't they only place that takes hair for wigs! 

If you are thinking of donating your hair, stop thinking about it and DO IT!! It takes about 5 or 6 donations to make ONE wig. You will not regret it. And if your child is making this brave and amazing choice to donate their hair, contact me and I will come document their experience for FREE!! That's right, I will waive the session fee which is a $250 value! Now go make that appointment!! Not sure where to go? Well, we go to The Loft on Queen Street. It's our favourite!!

I absolutely LOVE when people welcome me in to their home and their neighbourhood! Nothing personalizes your photos more then using your own home as the "studio"! Many people think that their place wouldn't look good, but that's not true at all. I can honestly find the perfect spots in any home, and know exactly how to take the picture so that your family stays the main focus, and not the dents in the wall, or the mess in the corner, or the dust on the shelves. Hey, I know what life with kids is like. Have you been following me on Instagram or Facebook? haha. 

Well check out these picture I took of Jack and his family! The one thing you may notice right away is the honesty in the pictures. Most children feel more comfortable and more like themselves in their own spaces, so they are able to let loose so we can grab those genuine smiles and those genuine moments shared between the family instead of dangling a rattle for eye contact and a smile. There's no faking here. Just real life moments.

Hello Sweet Touba

More people are starting to understand birth photography because when I tell people about how I document births, I'm starting to hear them respond with "Hey, my friend had her birth photographed", or something along those lines! But one thing people often still look confused by is documenting a cesarean birth.

Well, last week baby Touba made her debut via elected cesarean section making this the first c-section I have documented!! What a beautiful birth surrounded by so much love. This little lady is so special. She is the first grandchild on both sides of the family. This family is so welcoming that I felt like part of the family! They shared some incredible life stories with me during the moments waiting in the waiting room. This family is clearly made of very strong women! Just watch as this family celebrates and bonds over the arrival of Touba. These grandmothers have such a beautiful relationship and watching them greet their granddaughter with such gratefulness is really emotional. I love how involved their family over seas could be too thanks to FaceTime!! I love the role technology plays! Seriously, just watch!! Be sure to have some tissue by your side. 

Every birth story is unique, but in some ways, they are all the same. The love that radiates off the family welcoming a new sweet baby in to their lives is something that you can feel by just looking at the pictures. It's all worth documenting because the birth of your baby, is and always will be, the most insane, beautiful, best, incredible day of your life.
